Saints vs. Vikings Wear Your Fleur de Lis With Pride

It's a huge day for New Orleans and a great day to be a Saints Fan! As our team prepares to play the Vikings tonight, we know everyone will be sporting some black and gold fleur de lis fashion!

Here are some of the events happening around New Orleans today:

In Champions Square, events will begin at 3pm. Enjoy watching a huge screen featuring hightlights from the 2009 season and the Superbowl game. At 4:30, the Lombardi trophy will be displayed by team owner Tom Benson. At 6: 30, the Bucktown Allstars will take the stage. This new tailgating spot will be fun for everyone, and a great place to enjoy all the sights and sounds of the day.

The NFL has teamed up with Blaine Kern Studios to produce a Mardi Gras-style parade will that start at 5 pm on Esplanade at the River, then go up Decatur past the St. Louis Cathedral, back to North Peters, across Canal and Poydras streets to Tchoupitoulas, where it will disband. The parade, although small by New Orleans Mardi Gras standards, should be a lot of fun with football players, local chefs and musicians and some NBC series stars.

In Jackson Square, the concert will begin at 6:30 featuring Taylor Swift and The Dave Matthews Band. This will be a huge event and offers fans an opportunity to enjoy a free show if they are not lucky enough to have tickets to the game.

We know everyone will be sporting their fleur de lis attire........wear it proudly!

The Fleur de Lis and a Black and Gold Superbowl

"Can you imagine what the city of New Orleans will be like if the Saints win the Super Bowl?" I would have to be in New Orleans, and no other place would do!”

From Facebook to Twitter, Bourbon Street and all, these days there is only one subject on everybody’s mind: Will the New Orleans Saints with an impressive 8-0 record “Go All The Way” and finally bring home to the Crescent City, the coveted Vice Lombardi Trophy! The pros and cons of the possibilities of this impending success are now not only a lively subject of discussion, but have also seized the attention of Las Vegas odds makers! Win or not, the anticipation level is growing by the day, and all are looking forward to this being the year the Super Bowl hits New Orleans!

And why not? Admitted into the NFL on November 1, 1966 which by the way was the same day as the Roman Catholic Holiday called the “All Saints day”, from which they hold their name, this New Orleans expansion team has had its fair share of ups and downs throughout their sportive years. Playing for more than a decade before managing to finish a season with a .500 record, and two more decades to finally claim their first successful years in 1987 and 1992, when the team made the playoffs four times and had winning records in the non playoff seasons! In the year 2000 the Saints were still going strong and defeated the then-defending Super Bowl champion the St. Louis Rams for the teams first playoff win!

So is this the year when they will “Go All The Way?” The Black and Gold Super Bowl party would be just the thing the beautiful city of New Orleans needs considering the devastation that Hurricane Katrina brought to all and the Louisiana superdome in 2005. After a $185 million renovation of the historic Louisiana Superdome, and the return of the team for the 2006 season, New Orleanians are more than ready to call in the victory for the Saints as for the first time in this franchise history, they are one of only two undefeated teams leading the NFC South!

With tickets to the games being sold out for the second year in a row, and expectations being high, it is without a doubt the most anticipated season of the year. Sporting their teams colors of Black and Gold which symbolized both Mecom’s and New Orleans’ strong ties to the oil (‘black gold”) industry, the Saints seems to be firmly on their way to bringing home a much needed triumph for the Super Bowl XLIV!.

With the football season fast approaching its deciding point and Super Bowl Sunday right around the corner, it’s without doubt that most of us do dare to dream even after being generally told otherwise in these past 42 years. Regardless of the past record of this well seasoned football team, the excitement and anticipation is great for fans of all ages, and the beliefs high that The Saints will finally bring home the greatly coveted Super Bowl grand finale in their name!

Fleur De Lis Jewelry with a New Orleans Theme

Since the symbol of the fleur de lis has so many historical roots and different variations, we love to show the special part of the symbol that relates the New Orleans in our products. In New Orleans, many residents feel like the city owns the symbol and therefore, are very proud to show it off. Wearing fleur de lis jewelry and apparel is a great way to show the spirit of the city in a personal way.

At Fleur De Lis Fashions.Com we show the pride of our city in all of our products. Because the fleur de lis is all we do, we feel that we know the symbol well. We are proud to offer quality, beautiful, and affordable fleur de lis jewelry, accessories, apparel, and more.

Since we first began, we have enjoyed the fact that people all over the world have feel in love with our fleur de lis items. Since the symbol has many cities, organizations, and groups that utilize the emblem it's always fun to see the different parts of the world wearing our items.

Just like in the City of Saint Louis, the symbol holds deep meaning and is special to all those who show off their fleur de lis style. Also in Quebec Canada, the fleur de lis holds true to it's heritage.

In New Orleans though, we still feel a little selfish when it comes to the royal emblem. Our beloved football team, the New Orleans Saints also use the symbol on their uniforms and they have for quite awhile now. The city has a unique love for the football team that has caused many emotions of it's fans, both good and bad since their inception. The fans of the Saints are die-hard tried and true and through the it all, love their home team.

The symbol can be found all over New Orleans, just like this photo below of the large fleur-de-lis displayed on the side of the Louisiana Superdome.

Some fans even take their love of the fleur de lis a little further, by painting themselves with the emblem, or even getting great fleur de lis tatoos. Branding themselves with a symbol that has so much meaning has been a trend in New Orleans for quite some time now. Enjoy the pictures below of some of the best we've found so far.
